New 1 W 2M / 70cm APRS Transmitter

The 2 meter 5 Watt APRS transmitter has been a great seller over the years, but the amplifier used in this design is becoming increasingly difficult (and expensive) to obtain from reliable sources.  This product will  being discontinued, and replaced with a new 1 Watt version. A 70cm version will also be available.

The BRB-APRS Transmitter is a compact, self-contained APRS tracker built around the u-blox M10 GPS, a Si4463 radio and a 32-bit Arm® Cortex®-M4 processor,  putting a full-featured position beacon in a package you can configure entirely from your Android or iOS phone. No cables, no serial terminals, no re-flashing to change a callsign: just pair over Bluetooth Low Energy and edit every parameter — callsign and SSID, symbol, WIDE1/WIDE2 path, beacon delay, Mic-E mode, deviation, and more — through a clean BLE settings interface. Firmware updates arrive the same way, over BLE DFU.  The device can also be configured via the USB/Serial port using a built-in menu system that  mirrors the same settings.  The active ceramic patch GPS antenna is connected via a u.fl connector, allowing for relocation of the antenna if necessary

The BRB-APRS is frequency-agile across both the 2 meter or 70 cm APRS . Onboard 2 MB of data storage holds your configuration safely through power cycles  and stores hours of flight data logs. Smart features like dynamic path selection triggered by altitude, alternate symbol support, configurable preamble and deviation, and mic-E compressed position reporting are supported. An integrated battery charger eliminates the need for a separate board to charge the battery.

Unlike the current 5W transmitter, the output power is configurable and is designed to run off of a single cell LiPo power source (3.7V)  instead of a two.    Output power can be set to any value between +10 and +30dBm (10mw to 1 watt).
